PROJECT SCOPE
  • Organizing and rehousing the collection materials into archival acid-free boxes with labels for safekeeping and future transport if/when donated to an institution
  • Digitizing scrapbooks, photographs, correspondence, artwork, and other collection items into TIFF and JPEG images stored on an external hard drive for use of the estate and research purposes
  • Creating content inventories of the box and folder contents
  • Basic preservation to stabilize fragile and degrading materials
FINAL PRODUCTS
  • External hard drive with digital copies of the collection
  • 60 archival boxes of organized materials
  • A detailed information guide to the collection

Clive barnes Foundation

Clive Barnes CBE was an English writer and critic. From 1965 to 1977, he was the dance and theater critic for The New York Times.
PROJECT SCOPE
  • Digitization of 89 scrapbooks, containing published articles written by theatre and dance critic Clive Barnes from the years 1949 through to 2008
  • Scrapbook scans were saved as digital files on external hard drives. Multiple hard drive copies were created for distribution to various institutions
  • Creating searchable content inventories of the scrapbook contents

FINAL PRODUCTS
  • Multiple external hard drives with digital copies of the collection to be given to institutions and for the foundation's use
  • 89 Scrapbooks securely wrapped and labeled for donation to the New York Public Library
  • A detailed information guide of the collection and archival work performed

  • Digitization and basic preservation of historical costumes dating from 1940 to present
  • Categorized and filed archival materials (photographs, correspondences, periodicals)
  • Assisted with donor tours of the Archive
  • Identified unknown dancers and persons in photographs in the collection
  • Transported costumes and paper materials from the NYCB offices and costume shop to the archive

  • Perform basic preservation techniques to stabilize and prevent further damage to the materials
